ABOUT US

OUR STORY

Ngāpuhi Kākahu was born from a vision - to weave our whakapapa, our stories, and our sovereignty into the fabric of everyday life. What began as a simple idea - creating clothing that carries meaning and has grown into a movement where every garment is a statement of pride, identity, and rangatiratanga.

We are more than a clothing brand. We are an iwi-owned kaupapa, built to represent Ngāpuhi, our hapū, and our whānau across Aotearoa and beyond. Every kākahu we design holds purpose, reminding us of who we are and where we come from.

OUR KAUPAPA

Ngāpuhi Kākahu is driven by the belief that what we wear can carry more than style - it can carry stories. Each piece is designed to:

Honour our tīpuna and the legacy of Ngāpuhi rangatira.

Represent the foundational documents of our nation, such as He Whakaputanga (1835) and Te Tiriti o Waitangi (1840).

Strengthen cultural identity and connection for our whānau.

When you wear Ngāpuhi Kākahu, you’re not just wearing a hoodie, crew, or tee. You’re carrying rangatiratanga, kaitiakitanga, and kotahitanga with you.

OUR COMMITMENT

We are committed to creating quality garments that are made to last, while always staying true to our kaupapa. We design with care, source with integrity, and ensure that every item reflects the mana of Ngāpuhi.

From the printing of our designs to the messages we share, we ensure authenticity, cultural respect, and accountability in everything we do.

OUR PEOPLE

Ngāpuhi Kākahu is powered by Ngāpuhi, for Ngāpuhi. As an iwi-owned initiative, we represent more than just a brand - we represent a movement of whānau reclaiming, celebrating, and expressing our identity.

Ka mimiti te puna I Taumārere
Ka toto te puna I Hokianga
Ka toto te puna I Taumārere
Ka mimiti te puna I Hokianga

When the fountain of Taumārere is empty
The fountain of Hokianga is full.
When the fountain of Taumārere is full.
The fountain of Hokianga is empty.
